Erie County is one of New York’s most beautiful locations for weddings and receptions. Finding a place to photograph the happy couple and their party can be a bit of a challenge for local photographers, though. Not because there are not enough places but because there are so many scenic and lovely places; choosing a location can be difficult!
Lake Erie — There are prime photography spots along Lake Erie, providing couples stunning water and sky backdrops, while creating a beach-vibe. These can be great locations for couples, and photographers, who like to kick up a little bit of sand and have some fun! Another great waterfront location is the Erie Basin Marina, located in historic waterfront district in Buffalo. The Marina is home to restaurants, as well as beautiful gardens and stellar views along Lake Erie near the mouth of the Niagara River.
Albright Knox Gallery — Some couples who are looking for the prime Western New York wedding photography location may find what they are looking for at the Albright Knox Gallery, also located in the beautiful and historic Delaware Park area. This Gallery is rich post war American and European art, acquired by the late Seymour H. Knox. It includes abstract expressionism and pop art from famous artists such as Jackson Pollock, Arshile Gorky and Andy Warhol, to name a few. Located on Elmwood Avenue and bordering the Delaware Park Rose Gardens, this entire area is a favorite photography place for those who aim to capture the spirit and joy of their new lives together. Those who are married in the spring and summer will enjoy taking advantage of the flowers and flowering trees in bloom in this part of Buffalo.
Downtown Buffalo — There are a myriad of beautiful and historic buildings in downtown Buffalo, including the many mansions along Delaware Avenue and Buffalo City Hall (where a couple can, coincidentally, also have a quick wedding). Buffalo’s famous locations, such as Forest Lawn Cemetery in Delaware Park is a beautiful location and, despite being a resting place for more than one hundred thousand people, including U.S. President Millard Fillmore and musician Rick James, the grounds include lakes, creeks, trees and wildlife.
Glens Falls Park — Other couples, looking to escape the city of Buffalo, will find stellar views and great backdrops throughout Erie County, including Glen Falls Park, located in Williamsville, NY. This park features many interconnecting ponds, which are home for many ducks and other wildlife. A natural waterfall within the park makes it an ideal place for taking wedding pictures.
