Buffalo Wedding VenuesEvery couple has a different notion of the perfect setting for their wedding reception. As a wedding photographer in the Western New York area, Jon Elder has experience with a wide variety of area venues. When it comes to historic architecture and an authentic atmosphere, nothing beats downtown Buffalo. For those who are looking to get married in the City of Good Neighbors, here are a few of the most popular wedding venues in downtown Buffalo.

Lafayette Hotel

This hotel, renovated and reopened with a variety of shops and restaurants in the past few years, serves as a symbol of both Buffalo’s resurgence and its reconnection to its historic past. Originally built to accommodate guests to the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo’s heyday, the Lafayette is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Pearl Street Grill & Brewery

A fun and popular hangout during Buffalo Sabres games, the Pearl Street Grill & Brewery offers multiple floors that can be rented out for events, each with their own bar and outdoor patio that is just wonderful in the warm summer months. This is a great spot for couples who want a fun, authentic Buffalo food and drink experience.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center

Shea’s opened in 1926 as a luxurious movie house, and after years of renovations and upgrades, it now hosts a regular schedule of Broadway productions. On nights when there’s no show, the venue is available for rent. You can hold your reception in Shea’s breathtaking lobby, or even on the stage itself.

Asbury Hall

Asbury Hall is a beautiful cathedral, restored and repurposed for a variety of artistic uses by musician Ani DiFranco. The surrounding complex also holds an art gallery and the offices of DiFranco’s record label. For those looking for an artistic but classy twist, Asbury Hall is a great choice.

Templeton Landing

There’s a great deal of buzz surrounding Buffalo’s up-and-coming waterfront, and Templeton Landing offers a first-hand look. The restaurant has the accommodations for a wedding, but don’t be surprised if most of your guests spend the evening enjoying the lakeside weather and breathtaking scenery.
